Forget The Bob, Victoria Beckham Is Making Long Balayage Hair A Thing Again

The bob may have dominated beauty trends in recent seasons, but Victoria Beckham is making a strong case for something longer, softer and altogether more romantic.

The designer has stepped out with waist-grazing balayage hair, bringing one of the most recognisable hair trends of the 2010s back into the spotlight.

In a recent Instagram post from Miami, where Beckham attended an event celebrating the House of Victoria Beckham at Bal Harbour Shops, she appeared alongside David Beckham wearing a taupe silk evening dress. The look was classic Victoria: elegant, refined and understated. But this time, it was her hair that made the biggest statement.

Styled in soft, romantic waves, Beckham’s brunette lengths featured a subtle balayage finish, with darker roots melting into warmer, sun-kissed ends. The result was glossy, dimensional and quietly expensive, proving that the once-everywhere salon trend can still feel incredibly modern when done with restraint.

Balayage, a freehand highlighting technique that originated in Paris in the 1970s, became one of the defining hair looks of the 2010s. Known for its lived-in finish, darker roots and lighter ends, it offered a softer alternative to traditional highlights and became a go-to for anyone wanting low-maintenance colour with a sun-kissed effect.

But Beckham’s version feels less like a throwback and more like a grown-up reinvention. Rather than high-contrast blonde ends or overly beachy colour, her balayage is warm, polished and beautifully blended. It adds movement to her long hair without feeling overdone.

Her longtime hairstylist Ken Paves has also shared several recent images of Beckham wearing the look, from red-carpet appearances to behind-the-scenes moments at photoshoots in New York. Each time, the colour brings softness and dimension to her signature pared-back beauty style.

The timing feels right. After several seasons dominated by sleek bobs, sharp cuts and expensive-looking single-tone colour, there is a growing appetite for hair that feels a little softer and more romantic. Long balayage offers exactly that: polish, movement and brightness, without losing sophistication.

As ever, Victoria Beckham has not simply followed a trend. She has refined it.

Forget the bob. Long, glossy balayage may be having its most elegant comeback yet.
