Review: AMARA, Cyprus – Breathtaking Sea Views and Michelin-Starred Dining

With UK temperatures plummeting to -20C in some areas, a sunny escape has never sounded better — and we think it's the perfect time to embark on a culinary escapade to the AMARA, a luxury sanctuary located close to the famous royal ancient Kingdom of Amathus.

Located in the heart of Limassol, Cyprus, the fastest developing and second largest town in Cyprus, this city is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and rich and colourful history.

With a history dating back to the Archaic period, many rich, archaeological finds are located in Limassol and AMARA pays homage to its proximity to this sacred land by way of its name.

Boasting almost 365 days of sunshine and laid-back island vibes, the resort is poised above a 250m bay of golden sand and azure waters.

Named after the ancient Greek word Amarantos, meaning ‘everlasting,’ the AMARA aims to offer guests an exclusive and unique experience that will create wonderful, forever memories.

A stone’s throw from the busy cosmopolitan city centre, the AMARA is the newest property of the Stademos Hotel Group collection.

Boasting 207 elegantly appointed rooms and suites all offering 180-degree views of the sea, the high-end sophisticated property boasts world-class restaurants headed by prominent celebrity chefs, a signature spa, infinity pool and a grand ballroom for special occasions.

Using only the freshest ingredients, fusing delicate flavours with subtle aromas, guests’ appetite takes centre stage, with four world-class restaurants spearheaded by some of the world’s most celebrated chefs. Each restaurant combines lighting, music, colours and textures to express its own singular sense of place.

Setting new standards for Cyprus’ culinary scene, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and the AMARA have joined forces to bring a highly contemporary vision of Japanese cuisine to the island. With a Whiskey Bar for private events and a Teppanyaki Table, it offers a highly contemporary vision of Japanese cuisine, creating a gastronomic encounter between Asia and Latin America. Its unique Japanese-Peruvian menu is complemented by a bespoke array of NOBU’s legendary signature dishes including salmon karashi su miso, black cod with miso, white fish dry miso and more.

Headed by celebrity chef Giorgio Locatelli, Ristorante Locatelli brings his version of traditional Italian dishes while adding his own creative flair. From homemade pasta and rich risottos, this dining experience is seasoned with one of the city’s most romantic views of the Mediterranean Sea. At BeefBar, visitors are presented with a sensory journey of creative street food, iconic plates and delectable sides made with the best meat cuts from around the world. Brainchild of restaurateur Riccardo Giraudo who, in partnership with his Executive Chef Thierry Paludeto, the restaurant presents the finest cuts of beef from Australia, Japan and the United States in its laid-back atmosphere.

Dedicated to all things seafood, Nerea is perfectly located right where the waves meet the shore. Guests can indulge in a selection of freshly caught fish paired with an array of delectable sauces and sides, as well as oysters, caviar and lobster are also available for the ultimate beachside dining experience. Alongside its collection of gourmet restaurants, the AMARA boasts four bars, with the Rooftop Bar being the resort’s crowning jewel. Offering a chic, contemporary atmosphere, it is the ideal place to unwind, watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand, whilst enjoying relaxing lounge music.

The palatial grounds of the AMARA combine clean lines with monolithic forms, using locally sourced materials, to create a thoroughly modern atmosphere. Its design allows natural light to flood in and light up the stark white and sea-blue interiors, blurring the lines between indoor and out, creating a perfect merge of dream and reality.

While each accommodation is meticulously conceived and thoughtfully designed to offer a unique way of life, the standout two-bedroom AMARA suite spanning 230m² is the epitome of ultimate indulgence, featuring a spacious elegant terrace and a pool of 100m² overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Home to two infinity pools, one outdoor seawater adults-only infinity pool for spa guests and a children’s pool, the pools are some of the most idyllic, elegant and sophisticated places to enjoy on the island.

A slice of paradise that caters to guests seeking a relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is the AMARA’s Signature Spa which provides 3,500 sqm of relaxation.

In partnership with Cosmedix and Organic Pharmacy, treatments are personalised and tailored to each guest’s specific set of needs, combining the therapeutic benefits of professional products with both ancient and modern techniques that are guaranteed to achieve results. Private sessions are available in their fully-equipped gym while a hairdressing salon, barbershop and nail bar are also available for guests.

Great for couples as well as families, it’s easy to be mesmerized by the view and luxurious offerings at Amara. The sleek, high-design hotel raises the hotel game in Limassol and shimmers on the Cyprus coast.
