Fashion Designer Lists Mayfair Apartment, Inspired by Its Monopoly Board Status

Renowned fashion designer Melanie Greensmith, the visionary behind the iconic brand Wheels & Dollbaby, has put her stylish Mayfair apartment on the market.

Greensmith, who co-owns the property with her husband, Australian rock legend Mark McEntee of 'The Divinyls', was initially drawn to the home for a rather unique reason—its presence on the Monopoly board.

The first-floor apartment on Maddox Street, now listed by Carter Jonas for £1,050,000, represents more than just a luxury London pad. For Greensmith, it was the realization of a childhood dream.

"I've always wanted a home on the Monopoly board," Greensmith reveals. "As soon as I saw Maddox Street, I knew it had to be mine. Owning a place in Mayfair has always been a dream of mine, especially after starting with nothing."

Greensmith, who splits her time between Perth, London, and Los Angeles, has cherished the apartment as her London base for the past seven years.

"I like to call it my little jewellery box," she says, "with its gorgeous high ceilings and big windows. It’s perfect for people-watching and getting inspiration for my work."

The apartment, infused with Greensmith's design flair, features 3.4-meter high ceilings, wood flooring, and air conditioning. The south-facing, open-plan reception and kitchen area, with its two large floor-to-ceiling windows, is bathed in natural light, providing an ideal space for creativity. The one-bedroom home also includes a modern bathroom and bike storage.

During her ownership, Greensmith has welcomed a host of celebrities to the apartment for fittings, with her designs being worn by the likes of Kate Moss and Chrissie Hynde. When not in use, the apartment has been rented to students at The London College of Fashion, further intertwining the space with the fashion world.

Sam Richardson of Carter Jonas Mayfair describes the property as "a very rare opportunity to live in the heart of Mayfair, moments from Bond Street and its designer stores. With its character, charm, and an enviable history, it’s the perfect city pad or London base."

Located just off Bond Street, the apartment is surrounded by Mayfair’s finest restaurants and boutiques, with easy access to Bond Street tube station, Oxford Circus, and Hyde Park.

For Greensmith, the decision to sell marks the end of an era, as she transitions to a quieter life in Hampstead. Yet the Maddox Street apartment remains a testament to her success, creativity, and a dream realized—all because of a Monopoly board.

Priced at £1,050,000 Maddox Street is superbly located just off Bond Street and situated within some of Mayfair’s finest restaurants and designer boutiques. Bond Street tube station is moments away, as are Oxford Circus and Hyde Park. For further information, please contact Carter Jonas’s Mayfair team on or visit www.carterjonas.co.uk
