When the mastermind behind Jennifer Aniston’s iconic “The Rachel” haircut calls out a new hair trend, we are already on board, with our phones at the ready, waiting to tell our hairdressers that we "have to book in immediately".
Chris McMillan, the hair stylist responsible for countless red carpet and magazine cover hair moments over the last 30 years, is celebrated for his understated yet impeccable approach to styling.
His talent has earned him a long list of A-list clients, including Jennifer Aniston, Gigi Hadid, Cameron Diaz, Claudia Schiffer, Lily Aldridge, and Selena Gomez.
Recently, McMillan unveiled a fresh look for his latest client, actress Leila George, who stars in the upcoming indie film The Long Home alongside The Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson.
Sharing the details of Leila’s straight, flicked hairstyle on Instagram, he wrote, “Leila George Golden Globes final touches!!!” He revealed her haircut and colour, a warm “chestnut bronde,” were inspired by Jennifer Aniston’s sleek early 2000s styles.
McMillan’s signature aesthetic—a polished, natural look—shines through in this latest creation. Chestnut bronde, a blend of golden, blonde, and chestnut hues, offers a softer alternative to brighter blondes and has been gaining traction as a go-to trend for 2025.
Leila isn’t the only star embracing the chestnut hair movement. Ariana Grande transitioned from her platinum “Glinda blonde” to a chestnut bronde for the Golden Globes, while Zendaya debuted a chic chestnut brunette bob on the same red carpet.

The enduring appeal of soft, face-framing layers continues to complement this trend. Layers that gently frame the cheeks, jaw, and collarbone add to the effortless sophistication of the look. For Leila’s style, McMillan achieved a glossy yet relaxed finish with a few smooth passes of a straightener—a modern nod to early 2000s elegance that feels just as fresh in 2025.
