- Audi Q6 e-tron Awarded Five-Star Rating for Child Safety
The Audi Q6 e-tron has received a prestigious five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), showcasing its exceptional safety features and innovative design. This accolade highlights Audi's commitment to delivering vehicles that prioritize occupant protection and child safety, making the Q6 e-tron a standout choice for families. In its comprehensive evaluation, Euro NCAP assessed the Q6 e-tron in several crucial categories: protection of adult occupants, child safety, protection of vulnerable road users, and the effectiveness of standard assistance systems. The results were impressive, with the Q6 e-tron achieving an outstanding 91% rating for adult occupant protection. This score reflects the vehicle’s advanced safety engineering, offering optimal protection in the event of a collision. One of the standout features evaluated for the first time in an Audi model is the incorporation of post-crash functions. These include rescue data sheets for emergency services and an emergency call system, both of which significantly enhance the vehicle's safety credentials. The Audi Q6 e-tron shines particularly in child safety, achieving a remarkable 92% rating, making it "Best in Class" for all vehicles tested in 2023 and 2024. Audi has designed the Q6 e-tron to accommodate three “i-Size seats”—two in the rear and one in the front passenger seat—ensuring top-notch safety for younger passengers. The “i-Size” standard, introduced in 2013, guarantees compatibility between child seats and the vehicle, enhancing safety during every journey. Additionally, the front passenger seat features automatic deactivation of the airbag for rear-facing child seats, a smart safety measure that the vehicle intelligently activates as needed. With improved restraint systems tailored for various child seat sizes, the Q6 e-tron provides exceptional protection for children of all ages. Audi places a high priority on vehicle safety, employing 220 experts who conduct over 1,000 intricate crash tests and around 20,000 virtual accident simulations annually. This rigorous testing process ensures that Audi continually enhances its safety features, making strides toward achieving the highest safety standards. The accolades for the Q6 e-tron are not limited to the SUV model presented in March. The same Euro NCAP test results apply to the upcoming Sportback variant, set to be released in 2025, along with respective S models. Audi is poised to unveil the Sportback version of the Q6 e-tron family at the 2024 Paris Motor Show on October 14, 2024. This presentation promises to showcase the brand's latest advancements in automotive design and safety technology. For more information, including photos and videos of the new Sportback variant of the Audi Q6 e-tron family, visit the Audi MediaCenter starting October 14, 2024, at 0:01 a.m. (CEST). As Audi continues to innovate in the realm of safety, the Q6 e-tron exemplifies a blend of performance, luxury, and uncompromising protection for all occupants, setting a new standard in the electric vehicle segment.

- Tom Ford to Receive Outstanding Achievement Award at The Fashion Awards 2024
Renowned American designer Tom Ford will be honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award at The Fashion Awards 2024. Known for his game-changing contributions to fashion and his mastery of both business and design, Ford's career will be celebrated on 2 December at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London. British Fashion Council CEO Caroline Rush, who is set to step down soon, expressed her admiration for Ford: "It’s a privilege to celebrate Tom’s remarkable influence on fashion, film, and culture. His vision has continuously pushed boundaries across multiple industries." Ford began his journey in 1990 at Gucci as the Chief Womenswear Designer, quickly rising to Creative Director by 1994. His leadership was key in revitalising the brand, and by 1999, he helped form the Gucci Group, now Kering, where he also took on creative roles at Yves Saint Laurent. Credit: British Fashion Council In 2005, Ford ventured out to establish his own label, which achieved swift success. He stepped away from the brand last year following its sale to Estée Lauder. Beyond fashion, Ford is also an acclaimed filmmaker. His debut film, *A Single Man* (2009), earned him an Academy Award nomination, followed by the success of *Nocturnal Animals* (2016), which was awarded the Grand Jury Prize and secured multiple nominations across the BAFTAs and Golden Globes. Ford has also led the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) as its Chairman, where he made significant strides in diversifying the organisation, supporting pandemic relief efforts through the A Common Thread initiative, and enhancing the CFDA Scholarship Fund. "It’s a tremendous honour to be recognised by the British Fashion Council," Ford said, reflecting on the award. "London has been central to my career, and this recognition for my work in fashion, film, and culture means a great deal to me." The Outstanding Achievement Award celebrates individuals who have significantly shaped the global fashion industry through innovation and creativity. Past recipients include Giorgio Armani, Miuccia Prada, Ralph Lauren, and Karl Lagerfeld. This recognition comes as the British Fashion Council also announced the nominees for The Fashion Awards 2024, an event presented by Pandora that celebrates the intersection of fashion with culture and entertainment. Awards will be given in categories such as Designer of the Year, Model of the Year, and British Menswear and Womenswear Designers, with winners to be revealed at the ceremony.
- Mirabelle's Legacy Lives On: 60 Curzon Transforms into Iconic Residential Haven
60 Curzon, a landmark residential asset in the heart of Mayfair, has reached practical completion, marking a significant milestone for this historic address. This project represents a prestigious addition to London's real estate landscape, offering an exclusive glimpse into a unique luxury residence. For over 70 years, the site was home to the star-studded restaurant Mirabelle, frequented by the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kylie Minogue, and awarded a Michelin star under the renowned Marco Pierre White. Originally designed by Thierry Despont, 60 Curzon is an eight-story property featuring 32 private residences inspired by Art Deco design. These residences include lateral apartments, pied-à-terres, a townhouse, and two extraordinary duplex penthouses with expansive private terraces offering panoramic views of the London skyline. The building’s Portland stone façade, expertly crafted by PLP Architecture, pays homage to the site’s Art Deco legacy, complete with grand balconies and a private courtyard garden designed by Gustafson Porter + Bowman. Residents of 60 Curzon will enjoy a range of exclusive services, including 24-hour concierge, security, and valet service. Private amenities include a spa with a swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, and private fitness and treatment rooms. The penthouses also come with additional private amenities, underscoring the exclusivity and luxury of these residences in one of London’s most desirable locations. In addition to two fully furnished apartments designed by Thierry Despont, work is underway on three new residences by acclaimed interior design studios, including Elicyon. These new homes are set to be revealed this autumn, elevating the luxury and sophistication of 60 Curzon’s interiors. Mirabelle Restaurant One of the most exciting aspects of this project is its connection to the building’s rich past as the former site of the renowned Mirabelle restaurant, once frequented by icons such as Orson Welles and Winston Churchill. Under Marco Pierre White's leadership, the restaurant earned a Michelin star in 2000. As part of 60 Curzon’s new life, a brand-new restaurant will be a central feature, offering dining rooms with private access for residents, bringing culinary excellence back to this famed address. - Wellness Expert Says Beetroot Can Improve Skin and Hair Health, Here's Why.
As autumn rolls in, many people look forward to cosy evenings, warm drinks, and the festive feel of the season. However, the transition from summer to colder months brings new health challenges that can be difficult to manage. Searches for seasonal self-care tools, such as "blue light lamps for SAD," have surged by 150%1, reflecting the growing concern about maintaining wellness during this time. To help you navigate the seasonal shift, The Wellness Co. has teamed up with Abbas Kanani, Superintendent Pharmacist at Chemist Click, to share insights into how the change in weather can affect your health—and what you can do to stay on top of it. Why Do We Get Ill During the Seasonal Shift? Abbas Kanani explains: “It is quite common to get ill during the transition of seasons. Our immune systems can weaken due to the sudden change in temperature, making it more challenging to adapt. For instance, cold air and a reduction in humidity can dry out your throat and nasal passages, which makes it easier for viruses and bacteria to enter the body. “Our vitamin D levels also drop as the days get shorter and we have less sunlight exposure, which impacts the immune system. Additionally, spending more time indoors with less ventilation can increase the risk of illness, as viruses spread more easily in confined spaces.” The combination of colder weather and reduced sunlight plays a significant role in weakening our defences. With shorter days leading to less vitamin D production, it becomes crucial to find ways to stay healthy during this period. Physical Signs That the Season Is Taking Its Toll Kanani highlights several signs that your body might be struggling with the seasonal change: Skin Sensitivities: The shift in humidity and temperature can disrupt your skin's natural barrier, causing dryness, itchiness, or irritation. Increased Hair Shedding: Hormonal changes and lifestyle adjustments may lead to more hair falling out, as well as dryness or changes in texture. Brittle Nails: A drop in humidity or nutrient intake can make your nails more fragile, leading to breakage. Sleep Disruptions: You might find it harder to fall asleep or wake up more frequently, often due to changes in daylight hours and temperature. Cravings for Comfort Foods: As the days get colder, it’s common to crave warming, hearty meals like soups and stews—your body’s way of seeking warmth and energy. 5 Expert Tips for Staying Healthy This Season To avoid falling ill as the temperature drops, here are some wellness tips from the experts at The Wellness Co.: 1. Incorporate Saunas into Your Routine Sauna sessions can boost your immune system by promoting sweating and flushing out toxins. The heat improves circulation, relaxes muscles, and can elevate your mental wellbeing. Sauna use also triggers the release of endorphins, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. 2. Stay Hydrated with Seasonal Drinks Proper hydration is essential during the colder months, as the body’s water balance can shift with the weather. Herbal teas or water can keep your body hydrated and functioning optimally. 3. Prioritise Your Vitamin Intake Eating a nutrient-rich diet full of seasonal vegetables like beetroots, carrots, and spinach helps support your immune system. These vegetables are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can fortify your defences during the colder months. 4. Don’t Skip Your Exercise Routine Regular exercise, whether outdoors or indoors, helps regulate your body temperature and keeps you fit. Staying active as the weather changes can strengthen your immune system and help prevent seasonal illnesses. 5. Try Ice Baths For those brave enough, ice baths can reduce muscle inflammation and soreness by constricting blood vessels. This technique can be especially useful as your body adapts to new physical stresses during seasonal transitions. While the seasonal shift can be tough on your body, following these tips can help you stay healthy and energised throughout autumn and winter.

- The Iconic Magna Carta House – A Historic British Landmark For Sale at £4.5M
Nestled on the serene Magna Carta Island, this exceptional Grade II listed property, known as Magna Carta House, offers a rare opportunity to own a significant piece of British history. Located on the River Thames near Wraysbury in Runnymede, the house is now on the market for £4,500,000 with WATERVIEW. The six-bedroom, six-reception Victorian home spans an impressive 4,708 square feet and sits on nearly four acres of lush private grounds with 400 metres of Thames frontage, complete with a mooring. The house boasts a unique historical feature: a specially constructed Charter Room, which contains the stone slab where King John is said to have signed the Magna Carta in 1215. This monumental document is considered the foundation of modern democracy, enshrining principles such as the rule of law, trial by jury, and protection against unjust fines. The stone and the room pay tribute to the Magna Carta's enduring legacy in shaping not only British governance but also key constitutional documents like the U.S. Bill of Rights. An Architectural Gem with Unmatched Historical Significance Built in 1834 by George Simon Harcourt, a Conservative politician and High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, the home was constructed to commemorate the Magna Carta. The architecture of Magna Carta House is as striking as its history, blending Victorian elegance with Gothic-inspired elements. It features external gables, cylindrical stone chimneys, stained glass windows, and intricate wooden panelling. Inside, the spacious reception rooms retain much of their historic character, including Jacobean panelling reclaimed from Bisham Abbey, adding to the grandeur. The property also features an 830-square-foot detached outhouse, which offers potential for conversion into additional accommodation. The expansive grounds are graced with a tree planted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1974, adding yet another royal connection to this historic estate. The Charter Room: The Heart of the House The Charter Room is undoubtedly the most captivating aspect of Magna Carta House. Locked and secured, this room is centred around an octagonal wooden table that holds the rough stone said to have been used in the sealing of the Magna Carta. Commissioned by Harcourt, the table and stone serve as a tangible link to the pivotal moment when King John met with rebellious barons in 1215. The room is further enhanced by dark wooden beams, rich stained glass windows, and the crests of King John and the 25 barons who forced the king’s hand. While Magna Carta House is filled with period charm, it offers significant potential for renovation and modernisation. The existing structure was extended in the early 20th century, and features such as the Welsh slate roofing and leaded windows blend harmoniously with the original design. With six bedrooms, two family bathrooms, and a dressing room upstairs, the house offers ample space for a large family or for development into a boutique hotel or guesthouse, subject to planning consent. The property also includes a five-room detached cottage in need of restoration, offering the potential to create additional guest or staff quarters. The nearly four acres of meticulously manicured grounds, complete with specimen trees, offer scope for creating a swimming pool or other outdoor amenities. A Private Island with Unrivalled Riverside Views The secluded island setting provides a tranquil retreat with stunning views of the River Thames. Magna Carta Island is steeped in history and folklore, having been immortalised by author Jerome K. Jerome in his 1889 classic, Three Men in a Boat , who described it as a “sweetly pretty part of the river.” With nearly 400 metres of riverfrontage, the property also features its own private mooring, making it an ideal haven for boating enthusiasts. Proximity to History and Modern Conveniences Magna Carta House is perfectly situated for those who appreciate both historical significance and modern convenience. A short walk or drive from the National Trust’s Runnymede and Ankerwycke, the area is home to monuments honouring the Magna Carta, U.S. President John F. Kennedy, and the Commonwealth Air Forces. Visitors can also explore the 2,500-year-old yew tree under which Henry VIII is said to have courted Anne Boleyn. For those needing to commute or travel, Magna Carta House is just over a mile from Wraysbury station, with fast trains to London Waterloo taking 47 minutes. Heathrow Airport is a mere seven miles away, and the property enjoys easy access to major motorways like the M25, M3, and M4. Both Staines-on-Thames and Royal Windsor, with its rich cultural and shopping amenities, are within a 20-minute drive. Magna Carta House is available to buy freehold for £4,500,000. - An Interview with Kelly Hoppen: The Pioneer of Timeless Design
Kelly Hoppen CBE, the renowned British interior designer, has spent over four decades shaping the world of luxury interiors. From private homes and yachts to commercial spaces, her distinctive blend of Eastern and Western design philosophies has earned her a well-deserved reputation as a global tastemaker. Her signature style—defined by a neutral palette, sleek lines, and harmonious balance—has transformed not just spaces, but how we experience the places we inhabit. In this exclusive interview with The Life of Luxury , Kelly shares insights on her journey, her design principles, and what the future holds for Kelly Hoppen Interiors... What initially drew you to interior design, and how has your journey evolved over the years? I've always been passionate about interior design. Even as a child, I loved designing my room. My career journey began when I was just 16, designing a family friend's kitchen. That experience sparked a lifelong passion, and I've been fortunate enough to work on incredible projects, from private homes to super yachts and cruise ships. My aesthetic has evolved, but my core philosophy has remained consistent. How would you define the "Kelly Hoppen look," and what principles or values underpin your design philosophy? My look is defined by a neutral colour palette, clean lines, and a sense of harmony. It’s all about balance, symmetry, and creating functional yet beautiful spaces. I believe that a home should be a sanctuary—a place to relax and recharge. Focusing on space flow, natural light, and texture is key, with every detail carefully considered. Could you tell us about a project or collaboration that has left a lasting impression on you? There are many, but designing the interiors for the Celebrity Edge was groundbreaking. It felt like creating a luxury boutique hotel on water. The project’s scale, innovative design solutions, and collaboration with a talented team made it incredibly special. It stands out as a milestone in my career and in redefining sea travel. How do you adapt your approach when designing for different environments, and what considerations are most important to you? Each environment presents its own challenges and opportunities. For residential homes, it's about creating a personal and comfortable space that reflects the homeowner's lifestyle. For maritime interiors, I focus on durability and maximising limited space without compromising on luxury. The most important considerations are functionality, comfort, and aesthetic coherence. A space must serve its purpose while still being beautiful. How do you translate your design ethos into tangible products like furniture and home accessories? What inspires your creations? Creating products like furniture and home accessories is an extension of my interior design philosophy. I’m passionate about making my style accessible to as many people as possible. I focus on simplicity, elegance, and timeless design, using high-quality materials and craftsmanship. Inspiration comes from everywhere—nature, architecture, art, and my travels. The goal is to create pieces that are versatile and can seamlessly fit into various interiors. What emerging trends do you foresee shaping the future of design, and how do you stay innovative in your practice? Although I generally avoid following trends, I see sustainability and wellness becoming more prominent in design. There's a growing emphasis on eco-friendly materials, maximising natural light, and incorporating biophilic elements. Creating healthier living environments is something that’s not just a trend—it’s here to stay. Are there any trends you would advise people to avoid if they want to emulate the Kelly Hoppen design at home? I always advise people to focus on creating a timeless base. Avoid overly faddish elements that may date quickly. Instead, invest in quality pieces with clean lines and neutral tones. You can always introduce trends through accessories or artwork, which can be easily updated. The key is to create a space that feels balanced, comfortable, and enduring. Could you share a favourite project you're currently working on or a recent accomplishment that you're proud of? Recently, we launched two amazing projects in China. I have a deep connection to Eastern culture, so it was a privilege to incorporate the beautiful environments and artwork of Foshan and Zhuhai into these residential projects. This summer also saw the launch of Pearl 82, a new yacht design. Working on yachts is always a pleasure, and I love the challenge of working with such a sleek, fresh canvas. How do you integrate principles of balance and wellness into your designs, and why do you believe it's crucial today? Balance and wellness are at the core of my design ethos. In today's fast-paced world, our homes should be a sanctuary. I integrate these principles by focusing on a harmonious colour palette, thoughtful space planning, and the use of natural materials. Adding indoor plants and maximising natural light significantly enhance the experience in any home. A well-designed space can positively impact our mood, productivity, and wellbeing. What future projects or ventures can your admirers anticipate from Kelly Hoppen Interiors? How do you envision your legacy within the world of design? Many more residential and commercial projects are in the pipeline, including some exciting hotel designs that I can’t wait to share. We’re also expanding our product collections, with more additions to my existing ranges. I’ve always been passionate about making my work accessible to as many people as possible, which is why I design home products, write books, and share my tips on social media. As for my legacy, I hope to be remembered for timeless design and a commitment to creating functional and harmonious spaces that enhance people’s lives. Inspiring others and leaving a lasting impact on the world of design is what I strive for. - La Spigola Restaurant: A Culinary Journey in Sardinia
Imagine sitting at a table with your feet buried in warm sand, the crystal-clear waters of the Costa Smeralda gently lapping at the shore just a few meters away. The midday sun illuminates the landscape, and a soft sea breeze brushes your face. This is how lunch begins at La Spigola Restaurant in Golfo Aranci—one of Sardinia’s most enchanting spots. Here, the sea is not just a stunning backdrop but the star of the menu. By day, La Spigola transforms into an elegant beachside bistro where you can enjoy lunch with your toes in the sand, gazing at the horizon while sipping a chilled glass of local Vermentino wine. The impeccable service and laid-back atmosphere allow you to lose track of time, lulled by the gentle sound of the waves. The meal starts with a seafood crudo: freshly caught prawns, tender and sweet, paired with delicate sea bream carpaccio drizzled with fragrant local olive oil. The ingredients speak for themselves, with their freshness highlighted by simple yet artful preparations crafted by Chef Roberto Pisano. He leads the kitchen with a focus on seasonality and short supply chains, telling the story of an authentic Sardinia where the bond between land and sea is inseparable. Chef Roberto Pisano: A Steward of Sardinian Flavours Chef Roberto Pisano, the driving force behind La Spigola’s kitchen, roots his culinary approach in sustainability, local sourcing, and respect for the environment. Born and raised in Sardinia, Pisano has a deep connection to the island’s land and sea, which is reflected in every dish he creates. His philosophy centres on using only the freshest local ingredients, and he has built strong relationships with nearby fishermen, farmers, and artisans to ensure that what comes to the table is always seasonal and of the highest quality. Pisano is more than just a chef; he is a steward of the territory. His daily collaboration with local fishermen allows him to select the freshest catches, which he expertly transforms into dishes celebrating the Sardinian sea’s natural bounty. Whether it’s delicate red prawns, plump mussels, or flavourful sea bass, every piece of fish is treated with respect, ensuring that no part goes to waste. Pisano is passionate about zero-waste cooking, employing innovative techniques to repurpose parts of the fish that might otherwise be discarded, such as turning fish bones into broths or crispy skin into a flavourful garnish. In addition to his commitment to seafood, Pisano also champions Sardinia’s agricultural offerings. He sources vegetables, cheeses, olive oil, and wines from small local producers, keeping his kitchen closely connected to the land. This focus on short supply chains guarantees the freshest ingredients while supporting the island’s economy and preserving traditional farming practices. A Perfect Balance: Tradition Meets Innovation Pisano’s cooking strikes a perfect balance between traditional flavours and modern techniques. Continuously studying Sardinian ingredients, he always looks for new ways to enhance their natural qualities. His menus evolve with the seasons, adapting to what the sea and land provide at any given time. This ensures that each meal at La Spigola not only reflects Sardinia’s culinary heritage but also celebrates its ever-changing flavours. At the heart of Pisano’s cuisine is a deep respect for the environment. He emphasises the sustainable management of marine resources and strives to reduce the environmental impact of his kitchen. His dishes reflect a circular approach to cooking, where nothing is wasted, and every element is used to its fullest potential. Whether through preservation techniques that extend the life of fresh ingredients or creative preparations that give new life to often overlooked parts of the catch, Pisano’s approach is forward-thinking while staying true to tradition. An Unforgettable Meal The main course offers a fillet of sea bass, gently grilled and served with seasonal vegetables, delivering an explosion of Mediterranean flavours. The fish is so fresh that you can almost sense the sea from which it came. A light herb sauce made with aromatic plants picked from nearby hills rounds off the dish. Lunch concludes with a traditional Sardinian dessert: seadas, a pastry filled with fresh cheese, fried and drizzled with local honey. The contrast between the savoury cheese and sweet honey creates the perfect finale to a meal that celebrates Sardinia in all its forms. As the sun dips, casting a warm palette of colours across the sky, it’s easy to understand why lunch at La Spigola is not just a gastronomic experience but a true immersion into the flavours and aromas of Sardinia, set in an atmosphere of pure relaxation.
