Nearly two decades after it first defined the intersection of fashion and film, The Devil Wears Prada is officially returning to the big screen.

A sequel is now in development at The Walt Disney Company, bringing back the original cast who made the 2006 film a cultural phenomenon. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt are all confirmed to reprise their iconic roles as Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs and Emily Charlton.

The first teaser trailer has now dropped, offering a glimpse into the long-anticipated return to the fashion world that captivated audiences and insiders alike.

What the New Trailer Reveals

Set to Vogue by Madonna, the teaser blends nostalgia with a new chapter in the Prada universe.

The trailer opens with familiar glimpses of the fashion industry’s most feared editor, Miranda Priestly, delivering the kind of icy wit that made the original unforgettable. In one moment, she turns to Andy and remarks: “Wait, wait. I hope that’s not what you’re wearing tonight.”

Alongside returning favourites, viewers also catch glimpses of Stanley Tucci reprising Nigel, while new additions to the cast include Simone Ashley, Lady Gaga, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, and B. J. Novak.

The teaser ends with a prompt to secure tickets ahead of the film’s highly anticipated 1 May 2026 release.

Nearly 20 Years After the Original

When The Devil Wears Prada premiered in 2006, it quickly became a defining film of the fashion world. Inspired by Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel, widely believed to draw from her time working at Vogue under editor Anna Wintour, the film offered a sharp, glamorous look behind the scenes of a major fashion publication.

Miranda Priestly’s famous line, “Everybody wants to be us,” became shorthand for the magnetic power of fashion media, and the ruthless standards behind it.

For years, a sequel seemed unlikely. Many of the film’s stars had moved on to major careers, and the story appeared complete. Yet the enduring popularity of the film, along with a renewed appetite for nostalgic sequels, has finally brought the Runway universe back to life.

What the Story Might Explore

Plot details remain tightly guarded, but early reports suggest the sequel will reflect how dramatically the media and fashion landscape has changed since the first film.

Miranda Priestly is still firmly entrenched in the fashion industry, though the dominance of traditional print magazines has declined in the digital age.

Meanwhile, Emily Charlton has risen through the ranks and now works as an executive at a powerful luxury group, controlling advertising budgets that Miranda may desperately need.

That dynamic sets the stage for a compelling reunion between two of the franchise’s most memorable characters.

When Can We Watch It?

Fashion fans won’t have long to wait.

The sequel is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 1 May 2026, giving audiences just enough time to revisit the original before Miranda Priestly’s next chapter begins.

And if the teaser is any indication, the return to Runway will once again remind us of one thing: in the world of fashion, power never truly goes out of style.
