Tuscany is one of the most famous and prolific wine regions in the world. Stay in the charming city of Florence, just a short drive from Chianti country, and you will find wineries with Michelin-starred restaurants, or set within luxurious resorts.

And with famous brands like Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, and Nobile di Montepulciano dominating the market, this small winery, Tenuta del Buonamico, has become one of Italy's best-kept secrets.

The Buonamico Estate is located southwest of Montecarlo, in Tuscany, and covers just over 100 hectares, 48 of which are dedicated to their 'specialised' vines.

The winery was founded by renowned restaurateurs from Turin in the early 1960s. But, today, the Estate is owned by the Fontana family, who have expanded the vineyards and upgraded the wine cellar.

The Buonamico Estate offers guests the chance to visit the winery, and to sample wines and olive oils. The tour, which lasts approximately an hour and a half, and at the end, the wine tasting commences.

Our Favourite White: Vasario

This medium Pino Grigio ferments and ages in french oak barrels. Described as 'Very Intense, complex, with flowers and yellow-fleshed fruit with notesof vanilla and tropical fruit', this white wine was wide, well structured, and very balanced, with a soft and persistent end.

Our Favourite Red: Il Fortino

This medium textured red is created from grapes belonging to the oldest Syrah vineyard of Italy, and ages in french oak for about 18 months. The scent of this red is intense, wide, and it has a strong nose of underbrush, blackberries, balsamic notes and a hint of spice. The taste is full bodied and fruity, with a great structure and balance.

Our Favourite Rosè: Dea

This medium-textured Rosè is the perfect drink for summer. It has an intense scent, with strong notes of cherry and marasca cherry notes, which is reflected in the fresh and lively taste.

And now, not only can you participate in visits and tastings, but you can also holiday at the resorts' luxe on-site hotel.

This intimate resort has less than 15 rooms onsite, but they are extremely spacious and modern. Rooms have been tastefully decorated, and either have a terrace with a garden, or a balcony with a view, which overlook the beautiful mountains of Montecarlo.

The infinity pool, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, is the ideal place to relax while sunbathing and having a glass of wine.

The spa has access to a rare Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath with Chromotherapy, an indoor jacuzzi, showers, and a relaxation area with herbal teas. Massages are also available upon request.

Buonamico Wine Resort is the perfect private getaway for wine lovers and romantics, or for high-profile clients who want to relax away from the cameras.

If you wanted, you wouldn't have to leave the resort, as the on-site restaurant Syrah is available for lunch and dinner, and breakfast is included in your stay.

Rooms start at €200 per night and includes breakfast, free Wifi, Outdoor parking and access to the outdoor pool.
