At the Laver Cup in San Francisco, Roger Federer made an entrance that only a legend could, an immaculate tuxedo, sleek shades, and on his wrist, one of the rarest Rolex watches in existence.
The former world No. 1 showcased a gem-set Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref.126599TSA, a piece so exclusive it doesn’t even appear in Rolex’s official catalogue.
Crafted in white gold, the 40mm Daytona is set with 36 baguette-cut blue sapphires around the bezel and 54 brilliant-cut diamonds across the case and lugs.
Its dial, cut from silver obsidian, a volcanic glass that shifts from grey to silver to black depending on the light, adds a natural, otherworldly brilliance. Sapphire hour markers and blue detailing within the chronograph registers complete the aesthetic.
Inside, Rolex’s calibre 4131 movement powers the watch, offering a 72-hour power reserve, screw-down pushers, and the brand’s famed Oyster bracelet.

The combination of cutting-edge performance and extraordinary gem-setting makes this one of Rolex’s most captivating creations.
First shown discreetly to select clients at Watches and Wonders 2025, the Daytona was never officially released or promoted, making it a true “off-catalogue” piece.
For most collectors, such watches are unattainable; allocations are reserved for the brand’s most valued clients. As a Rolex Testimonee, Federer’s access is unrivalled—proof that, as the saying goes, “it’s good to be the king.”
By pairing his signature elegance with one of the rarest Rolexes ever produced, Federer reminded the world that his influence extends far beyond the tennis court—into the very heights of horological exclusivity.
