Australian chef Scott Hallsworth is bringing his rule-breaking, cult-favourite dining concept Freak Scene to the heart of Soho for an exclusive pop-up in partnership with the Evolv Collection. Launching 22nd July and running through to November 2025, the residency will take over the ground floor of the iconic 100 Wardour Street.
This marks a long-awaited homecoming for Freak Scene, as well as the first and only pan-Asian offering within the Evolv Collection’s growing portfolio. Known for his provocative, punk-spirited approach to cuisine, Hallsworth’s cooking fuses Japanese izakaya influences with bold Aussie flair—delivered with an unapologetic sense of fun.

Hallsworth rose to prominence as Head Chef at both Nobu London and Nobu Melbourne, before founding the critically acclaimed Kurobuta, with outposts in Chelsea, Knightsbridge and Marble Arch. Since launching Freak Scene, the chef has carved out a rebellious niche with dishes that are as loud and flavour-packed as the environments they’re served in.
The Soho pop-up will showcase signature Freak Scene favourites, including chilli crab wonton bombs, miso-grilled hispi cabbage, and red curry duck donut buns—alongside a selection of new dishes crafted especially for the Soho crowd. A riotous Saturday brunch will also be on offer, pairing pan-Asian plates with hip-hop beats, graffiti-scrawled walls, and an atmosphere that crackles with energy.
“This is possibly the most exciting news I’ve been able to share since founding Freak Scene,” said Scott Hallsworth. “Not only are we heading back to our Soho roots, but we get to team up with the brilliant Evolv Collection at the iconic 100 Wardour Street. I can barely wait.”
The partnership marks the first major collaboration under Evolv Collection’s new CEO Martin Williams, signalling a fresh and contemporary vision for the group. Williams—also behind the launch of Pont Plage, the riverside beach pop-up, and the new Bluebird Club private members’ spaces in Chelsea and the City—has been steadily reshaping the Evolv experience to appeal to a broader, more dynamic demographic.
“I’ve been a fan of Scott’s food since his Kurobuta days,” said Martin Williams. “His creativity, edge, and mastery of flavour have always stood out. We’re thrilled to be welcoming Freak Scene to 100 Wardour Street. It’s a perfect fit—and the start of something very exciting.”
The Freak Scene x 100 Wardour Street pop-up opens its doors on 22nd July and will run until the end of November.
