Athens is about to add a new jewel to its coastline.
As part of the visionary multibillion-dollar Ellinikon mega-city, the Greek capital is preparing to unveil Ellinikon Marina, an ultra-modern superyacht destination poised to transform the Eastern Mediterranean yachting map. Also known as Agios Kosmas, in honour of 18th-century monk and missionary Saint Kosmas, the marina marks a bold new chapter for Athens, long celebrated for the Acropolis and Parthenon, but now emerging as a world-class hub for contemporary coastal living.
Construction is already underway, with full operation set for 2028–2029. Once complete, Ellinikon Marina will feature more than 400 berths for yachts up to 262 feet, supported by premium amenities including refuelling, provisioning, maintenance facilities and a dedicated concierge service. Yachters will also enjoy direct access to over half a mile of pristine beach and seamless connections to central Athens.
Sustainability sits at the heart of the design. Energy-efficient systems, bioclimatic principles and native landscaping ensure the marina blends beautifully into the shoreline while meeting next-generation environmental standards.

One of its most striking advantages, however, is its proximity to Riviera Galleria, an architectural statement conceived by Japanese luminary Kengo Kuma. This glamorous waterfront destination will span more than 75,000 square feet and bring together high-end retail, fine dining and cultural spaces — a new epicentre for luxury living on the Athenian Riviera.
Ellinikon Marina forms part of LAMDA Development’s strategic trio of marinas across Greece, alongside Corfu (currently under development) and Flisvos, which opened in 2001 south of the Athens city centre. Together, they create an integrated route along the Greek coastline, offering yacht owners and captains a seamless journey through some of the most storied waters in the Mediterranean.
The wider Ellinikon development is equally ambitious. Set on the grounds of Athens’ former airport and Olympic complex, the $8.2 billion (€8 billion) project is one of the most significant urban regeneration efforts in European history.

Just 20 minutes from the Acropolis, the new city will feature Greece’s first skyscraper — the 656-foot Riviera Tower, home to 169 luxury residences — along with Europe’s largest retail district, a curated dining galleria, five-star hotels, a 1,500-acre coastal smart park, a next-gen transport network and a state-of-the-art sporting complex.
Some parts are already open. The Ellinikon Experience Center, housed within the largest of the former airport hangars, invites visitors to explore the city of the future through immersive virtual exhibitions.
With the arrival of this spectacular new marina, Athens is firmly positioning itself as a global yachting powerhouse — and a must-visit for the modern luxury traveller.
