Parisian luxury meets Eastern elegance as Celine unveils its enchanting summer pop-up, ÉTÉ CELINE, in Shanghai’s historic Zhangyuan district. Running from 10 April to 11 May 2025, this five-week installation brings the romance and refinement of the French Riviera to life, blending fashion, culture and leisure in signature Celine style.
A Slice of Saint-Tropez in the Heart of China
Inspired by the laid-back glamour of Saint-Tropez and the charm of Place des Lices, the pop-up is divided into three main areas, each designed to evoke the spirit of a French summer holiday:
Mediterranean Garden: Lavender, lemon trees and olive groves frame a serene fountain adorned with Celine’s Triomphe emblem, conjuring the sun-drenched ambiance of Provence.
Leisure Area: Visitors can relax with traditional European lawn games such as pétanque and Finnish skittles, or indulge in refreshing treats from a vintage-style ice cream cart.
Parisian Café: A chic terrace café recreates the alfresco dining atmosphere of the Côte d’Azur, complete with coastal-inspired furnishings and artisanal details.
Inside, Celine’s summer collection is showcased across elegant spaces featuring marine-striped textiles, bespoke wooden furniture, and original parquet floors — a harmonious blend of minimalism and Riviera romance.
Culture, Craftsmanship and Cinematic Flair
Upstairs, guests are invited to explore four immersive rooms — DREAM, TRAVEL, FEEL, and BREEZE — celebrating Celine’s summery art de vivre. A private screening room features iconic 1960s French films shot along the Riviera, offering a nostalgic nod to the brand’s cinematic inspirations.
A Pop-Up with Global Appeal
The experience has already captivated audiences in China, with the hashtag “Été Celine” garnering over 46 million views on Weibo. The opening night drew a host of A-list attendees, including global ambassador Liu Shishi, brand ambassador Sun Qian, actor Chen Zheyuan, and international supermodel Jiali Zhao.
In a further move to elevate the visitor experience, Zhangyuan is offering a new “refund upon purchase” service, allowing international guests to claim tax refunds on the spot — a first for the area and a sign of Shanghai’s growing status as a global luxury destination.
Where Fashion Meets Lifestyle
With ÉTÉ CELINE, Hedi Slimane continues to redefine what a fashion experience can be — merging retail with storytelling, elegance with immersion. More than a showcase of Celine’s seasonal collection, this pop-up is a celebration of French elegance, seen through the lens of global luxury.
